Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 2, 2026
This policy explains what information NoFrontDesk ("NoFrontDesk", "we", "us") handles for the NoFrontDesk Roku TV app, the NoFrontDesk platform for short-term-rental hosts, and this website, and what we do with it.
In short: the TV app shows a guest only what they need for their stay. It never shows door codes, last names, phone numbers or email addresses. There are no ads in the app, we don't track you, and we don't sell or share personal information for advertising.
Hosts and guests
NoFrontDesk is used by hosts: the businesses and people who run short-term rentals. When you stay at a rental, your host decides what information about your stay is used and shown, and is responsible for it under their own privacy policy. We handle guest information on the host's behalf and under their instructions. For host account information (see below), we decide how it is used.
The NoFrontDesk TV app
What the app stores on the TV
- A device token: a random credential that identifies the TV to the host's server.
- The address of the server the TV talks to.
Nothing else is saved on the TV. Removing the app from the TV deletes both.
What the app sends
- When it is first opened: the TV's model name, to get a device token and a pairing code.
- Every few minutes: a request for what to show. Like any internet request, it includes the TV's IP address.
- When a guest buys an add-on: the type of add-on, the price shown on screen, and the last 4 digits of a phone number the guest types in. The server checks those digits against the phone number on the booking. The TV doesn't keep them.
- When a guest rates their stay: the number of stars.
What the server keeps about a TV
A record for each TV: an identifier, a scrambled (hashed) form of its token, its model name, the pairing code while it is unpaired, the unit it is paired to, and when it was registered, paired and last seen. The host can unpair or remove a TV at any time. Purchases and ratings are recorded with the stay they belong to, and the server keeps a count of phone-digit attempts so it can stop guessing.
What the app shows
When a TV is paired to a unit, it shows information from the host's system about the current stay:
- the guest's first name and the unit's name;
- stay dates and check-in and check-out times;
- the WiFi name and password, parking and check-out notes;
- the host's local specials and recommendations, their contact number and their booking website;
- prices for available add-ons, such as an extra night or a late check-out.
The app never shows door or building codes, last names, guests' phone numbers, email addresses or card details. The server doesn't send them to the TV.
Anyone in the room can see the TV, so the app shows this information to whoever is watching. Hosts choose where TVs are placed.
Purchases on the TV
Add-ons bought on the TV are sold by the host, not by NoFrontDesk or Roku. They are charged by the host to the card the guest saved during the host's online check-in, after the guest enters the last 4 digits of the phone number on their booking. The TV never receives or shows card details. The host's payment processor handles the card.
Ratings
On check-out day the app asks "How was your stay?". The rating goes to the host with the stay. A low rating alerts the host so they can follow up.
Roku
Roku collects information about your device and how you use it under its own privacy policy. We don't receive your Roku account details, and the app doesn't use Roku's advertising identifier.
The demo
The demo uses a made-up stay. It makes no network requests and charges nothing.
The NoFrontDesk platform
Host account information
When a host signs up, we collect account and business details, such as names, email addresses, the business name, rentals, settings and billing details. Hosts connect the services they already use, such as their property-management software and their own payment account. The keys for those connections are stored encrypted.
Guest information we handle for hosts
To run a host's guest operations, we handle the information the host's systems hold about stays. Depending on the features the host turns on, this can include names, contact details, booking details, check-in answers, signatures, identity documents, references to saved payment methods, door codes, and messages between the guest and the host. Payment cards are held by the host's payment processor; we receive only references to them, such as the card brand and last 4 digits.
How we use information
- to provide the features the host has turned on, for that host's guests;
- to keep the service secure, prevent fraud and fix problems;
- to contact hosts about their account and the service;
- to meet legal obligations.
Who we share information with
- The host whose rental the information is about.
- Service providers that run parts of the service for us or for the host, such as hosting, payment processing, text messaging, email and AI services. They may use the information only to provide their service.
- Authorities or others when the law requires it, or to protect people, property or the service.
- A successor if NoFrontDesk is sold, merged or reorganized, under this policy.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising. The TV app and this website have no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
This website
This website sets no cookies, has no analytics and loads nothing from other companies. Our hosting provider keeps standard request logs, such as IP addresses and browser types, for security and reliability.
How long we keep information
We keep information as long as the host's account is active and as needed to provide the service. After that we delete or anonymize it, unless we need to keep it to meet legal, tax or accounting obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. A TV's device token stays on the TV until the app is removed or the host removes the TV.
Security
The TV app talks to its server only over encrypted HTTPS connections, and only to approved addresses. We protect stored information with access controls and encryption. No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee the security of information.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and to other rights under local law. Guests: because your host controls your stay information, contact your host first; you can also email us and we will pass your request to the host. Hosts: email us from your account email.
Children
NoFrontDesk is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information.
Where information is processed
We and our service providers process information in the United States and other countries where they operate.
Changes
We may update this policy. We will post the new version here with a new date.
